Reading the Tide Graph

When you request Tide Graph you will get a graph looking similar to this:


LETS BREAK THIS DOWN AND TAKE IT A SECTION AT A TIME.


TOP SECTION


This Top Section of the Tide Graph gives:

  • Named Location
  • GPS Coordinates
  • Date for the Tide Chart

MIDDLE SECTION


This Middle Section of the Tide Graph  starts with:

  • Named Location at the top
  • Day and Date is next
  • Times (shows Lows & Highs)
  • Measurement in feet of the offset from the mean local low-water level
  • Next are Horizontal Lines depicting the water level measurements in feet listed on the left side of the lines
  • Across the bottom are hour indications in 24 hour format
  • In the Middle is a wavy line going across the graph which represents the tide so you can read tide height at different times through the day
  •  The Darker Blue Colored Areas Represents – the time between Twilight Ends and First Light
  •  The Lighter Blue Colored Areas Represents – the time between First Light and Sunrise  and  the time between Sunset and Twilight Ends
  •  The Solid Yellow Colored Areas Represents – the time between Sunrise and Sunset
  •  The Speckled Yellow Colored Areas Represents – the time between Moonrise and Moonset
  • At the Bottom is the Maori Fishing Calendar
    •   Sun Position
    •   Moon Position
    •   Moonlight
    •   Sunlight
    •   Tidal Flow

BOTTOM SECTION

This Bottom Section of the Tide Graph is pretty self explanatory:

  • The top potion here shows the Day and Date the data is displayed for and the Fishing Prospect Index Rating
  • Going down the Left Column
    • First light
    • Sunrise
    • Sunset
    • Twilight Ends
    • Moonset
    • Moon Age:
    • Peak Daylight Fishing Time
  • Going down the Right Column
    • Range
    • Low Tide
    • High Tide
    • Low Tide
    • High Tide
    • Moon % Illuminated
    • Peak Nighttime Fishing Time
