What better way to spend Father's Day than with your kids on the water when the bite is good?!?!? :fishing1:

Got out early Sunday morning in search of a little bait and pulled a few hardtails off the buoys. They were pretty hungry and #8 Sabiki's don't hold up too well to multiple hook ups, so lost more Sabiki bugs than we caught hardtails. :skullbones:

Off to the fishing grounds.

Hit the hard bottoms west of the St Andrews Pass and we started some drifts. The sub bite was so thick we could barely keep baits in the water. My son scored the first keeper with a healthy 3# Red Snapper (pic in a bit; hard to fish two kids and keep up with the camera). Then my little girl finally gets a hook up so she can be on the internet and lands the biggest Trigger ever brought over our gunnels. :appl:

Kept the drift runs going and she picked up another keeper Trigger and a ton of sub Snappers. My son was pulling subs as well and kept me plenty busy cutting, baiting, and dehooking throw backs and some new to be baits.

We head over to Span 6 with our new baits in search of AJ only to find someone already beat us to the spot. No worries, we know where fish are so back we go and drop anchor on a spot that paints a picture on the bottom machine that's going to be a no miss. My son quickly adds Snapper #2

We keep sending down cut Bonita and keep pulling up subs when I finally get to pull up a tasty Red Grouper. :D Not long and the live bait rig goes off and our Porgy has morphed itself into a 9.25# Grouper that my son expertly finishes off and lands it in the fish box for the big catch of the day.

All totaled Team Double Shot brings aboard 27 fish with 2x keeper Triggers, 2x keeper Snapper, and 2x keeper Grouper.

I say again, what better way to spend Father's Day than on the water with your kids when the bite is good...

Great report and pictures, excellent internet debut for your daughter, very nice trigger(s) !! I'm not so sure I would ever want to fish with your son, looks like he would show me up every time out. Wonderful to see and hear about a family fishing trip, keep taking them out Dad, some of my fondest memories are fishing with my Dad.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks Ding! You're a FL fisher now? What part of the state?

You're a FL fisher now?

I am not in the state of Florida, I live in Anaheim, California. But I am an active member on the board out here and thought it would be cool to get involved with your board as well even though we are 3000 miles apart. I am sure there is a lot I can learn from the members of GB Florida! But if I ever travel to your state I know I can get solid information and help in fishing "Florida Style".

Ahhh hah, it all starts making sense. Saw your local as Anaheim, but something in your hello sounded like you'd relocated this way. Do miss the CA coast... Fishing good out there this time of year?

Great Fathers day Shot, it doesn't get much better than that. I had to spend my fathers day in the field unfortunately but me and my son went out and hooked up on some kings after I got back. I too was stationed in California at Port Hueneme about 60 miles north of LA from 95 to 2000. I loved going up in the mountians Rainbow trout fishing when I was out there. I only got to go offshore a couple of times, I ended up helping the deckhand more than fishing myself but it was fun. Anyway nice to see you and yours had a great time. I am going to try to come over in September, still not sure if that's going to happen yet. We're waiting on the E7 results to come out over here and if I'm lucky I'll be too busy to fish in September. Good luck to ya'll and take care.

For the past 3 - 4 weeks albacore have moved in all up and down the west coast, Oregon as well. There is usually solid Rock fishing from the central coast northward all year long. Yellowtail have been with us for at least 2 months but as winter approaches they will move down south. I don't see that happening for at least a few months, but who knows will see. Last year in the southern part of the state and Baja Mexico was the year of the Dodo. Epic catches of Dorado last summer even off the coast near Los Angeles. In my opinion it has been hit and miss this year, on again off again. One day excellent reports of Yellowtail and the next day dismal reports.

I am assuming you are a member of the armed forces, Thank You for your service to our country. Glad to hear you celebrated in spirit at a later time with your son.

Phil - GOOD LUCK ON E7!!!

I'm thinking I'm not going out again until Sep... fishing has been as cold as temps are scorching hot. Seems to change every day and I always seem to pick the bad ones lately. Wish the minnows would come back steady.

Well I've been passed up for promotion again, maybe next year. Your right about the fishing though, same situation over here. I'm looking at September myself. Thought about hitting the golf course in the meantime but it's a little hot for that. Take care Bro

 That is a classic I love it.

Guys it shouldn't be much longer and we will get this place rolling. Meeting with drangler tomorrow about giving away a reel every month for the best pictured report or something so stay tuned.

Shot, you'll have to let me know how to put my pics on the forum. I tried last time and couldn't figure it out. I'm sure it's something simple that I'm overlooking. I wanted to fish the SKA tourney here in Biloxi this weekend but I'm a little short on funds. I have to go TDY for a little while in SEP, probably go out when I get back around the 22nd.

Just go to top forum section "FAQ's" and there's a whole post put up by Sinker with pictures. That's what I used to learn and it's explained really well (props to Sinker!!). One trick I use is having two GetBent windows open so I can copy from one and paste into the middle of whatever post I'm writing in the other window; don't know how to do multiple pix otherwise. Hey an USAF guy can do it, so throwing the challenge at the USN!!!
