Since there are no reviews in this category, figured I woud start one by evaluating my favorite 40lb rod.

The 765Xl is a 6.5 foot rod that is rated for 20-50lbs. Rod is a combination of graphite that goes up from the butt of the blank until it blends with glass towards the tip. Calstars can be fished up towards the higher end of their line ratings.

Medium soft tip, fast action rtod. Rod shuts off about mid way through the blank. On legitimate 40lb gear it is very hard to bottom out the rod. Very good stump puller. Recoil on the rod is outstanding. No soft feeling to it when pulling on a fish. You can really pull. Truly one of the best 40lb rods ever produced. Can be used for live bait fishing, jigging and can even do some casting--although I wold recommend that if longer casts are required, might want to look at a different Calstar or Seeker rod.

I have caught yellowfin tuna up to 100lbs on this rod, bluefin, albacore, a hundred or so yellowtail ( the jacks, not the snappers here in Florida), amberjacks, kngs and groups. ,I have two of them. One is matched to a Cofe blueprinted International 12W and the other is matched to a Tiburon SS 8/50.

If you are in need of a great rod, pick one up. You will not be disappointed

Have purchased most of my gear at Charkbait.com. Bajafishgear.com is also very good. 765xl was 249.00.
