Yes we landed a Sword Fish but also earned it. Video at end of post.
We left with iffy weather conditions considering we were heading to the Dark Side (Gulf Stream). We met up with the Sword Fish Armada at a local water side Restaurant and Bar called Squid Lips.
Turned out great as I got the opportunity to meet great new people very willing to share their knowledge.
After a few drinks it was time to head out with the fleet of four boats.
We cruised the Intercoastal Waterway and shot the Sebastian Inlet at about 4:30 or 5:00pm Saturday evening. What was on our mind was simple. We each pictured an end result similar to this

So we hit the high seas and headed to our destination 55 miles out. At about the 30 mile mark we had to back down as Water Spouts appeared right in front of us. I am not sure what happened but the video footage I had of this and other events is missing from the tape (yes I am sure Operator Error - sorry)
So the Water Spouts finally cleared but the radar was showing some pretty good storm cells. We had rain, thunder and lightening in front of us, standing in the way of our destinations and no real way around it. After some discussion the decision was made to punch through the storm as it was only a few miles wide. After a very wet ride we broke through to the other side and found sunny skies again and finished our trip to the hunting grounds.
Of course we arrived and the wind picked up along with the seas. The boat was rocking hard. Unfortunately I did not follow my own advice and had not eaten or slept much prior to this trip and for the first time became very queasy out at sea. Not a good feeling and I can now sympathize with those of you who have problems with this.
So the boat is rocking, the clouds are getting darker and the lightening is starting again and the rain starts to come down. Bill decided to make a move and we headed out.
After over 30 minutes of traveling we had only moved a mere 4 miles and found ourselves surrounded by storm cells. We sent ahead and shut her down and decided to just go ahead and try a drift but the hopes for a catch and happy smiling faces dwindled. We feared we would not have a photo like the one below to show for this trip

Being that John and myself were not feeling to well we left Bill to stand watch as we laid down to rest and ease our stomachs.
Suddenly I hear the sound of click - click click click - click, click and Bill moving quickly to the rods. John and I had both heard this as we started to raise our heads for a look. Then we heard the sweet freight train sound of the clicker screaming along with Bill yelling to us to get up - FISH ON.
Lines were cleared and the tug of war was on. John was up and on the fish but a mis adjusted fighting harness prevented him from doing much. I strapped into my harness and we handed the rod off to me where I took over the battle.
When it was all said and done we boated a keeper size Sword Fish. Not huge by any means but plenty of food it did provide.

We set up another drift and waited.
We finally called it a night and headed in. All of us were VERY tired and worn out as it was a long day for all of us, up early for our own individual reasons. While on the way in the storms had completely cleared out and the seas laid down letting Bill make good time. I laid up on the bow and counted 9 shooting stars during our trip back to the dock.
Got the boat out of the water and headed to the all night gas station to get some more ice for the fish as we decided we were all to tired to try to clean it and would ice it down till tomorrow (which is now today, was then in-fact too http://www.getbentsportfishing.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif ). I picked up a Snickers bar at the Gas Station and immediately felt better with something in my stomach and the quick shot of energy from it.
Trailered to Bills house, unloaded things and we all said good night and went home. Bill, John and their band of kids got together today, cleaned the boat, cleaned the fish and had some fun pics snapped with it as well. The kids thought it was great.

I can't thank Bill and John enough for a GREAT trip and of course for cleaning everything up saving me an hour round trip drive to help out - pretty cool of them.
Again sorry as I have lost a lot of the video footage but have some for you.
Please Be Advised this is rated PG-13 as there is some colorful language involved.
