We were finally able to get a successful 24 hour offshore trip with Captain Jeff aboard his new Dorado. We assembled early Saturday morning and loaded up the boat with baits, and gear and left the dock a little after 9 AM. The weather was fantastic and the seas were flat and calm.

We made a quick stop at one of Capt. Jeff’s Snapper holes and brought some nice Red Snapper to the boat.

Then we headed offshore a little further and stopped at one of the rigs and pulled in several nice Amberjack.

After that we headed for our final destination, the Ram Powell. We arrived right at sunset and spent the rest of the night live baiting, and diamond jigging for Tuna. The bite was steady all night, and nice Blackfin were boated throughout the night. The Yellowfin finally got interested around daybreak.

We got back underway when the sun got a little higher and headed back north with a trolling spread behind the boat. A small White Marlin bit on one of the trolling lures but he spit the hook before I even had a chance to grab my camera, but it didn’t take long for a couple of nice Wahoo were landed along with one Dolphin.

We then headed back to the dock for the weigh in, and it didn’t surprise me at all to find that we had brought in over 1000 pounds. After all the picture taking, and address trading, we headed back north to Huntsville extremely happy with our experience once again with Captain Jeff and his crew.

I’d like to personally thank Captain Jeff Thierry and his crew Todd Jones, Mike Miele, and Lamar Smith for their professionalism, knowledge, courtesy, and above all good humor!! I look forward to this coming February for our annual trip to the midnight lump, as I already have my short timer’s calendar started.
Until then God’s speed Capt. Jeff, and tight lines! I’m looking forward to seeing you all again real soon.
